For them who failed!

Mark 16:3-7 
And they were saying among themselves, Who will get the stone rolled away from the door for us?

And looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back; and it was of great size.

And when they went in, they saw a young man seated on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were full of wonder.

And he said to them, Do not be troubled: you are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been put to death on the cross; he has come back from the dead; he is not here: see, the place where they put him!

But go, say to his disciples and to Peter, He goes before you into Galilee: there you will see him, as he said to you.

I usually write in Bahasa then translate it to English, but somehow today I would like to share one of beautiful insight from God thru today Bible reading at Church.

Before I started, let me wish you a happy Passover day. Christ has risen for all to see that He is God who visited the earth.

So different from people and most movies perspetive of God. They think when God is coming then it will be form as heroic character, powerful, amazing fighting actions and win all the battles against bad guys. But when God came to earth about 2 thousands years ago, He was a little baby in a manger, weak and dependent to His human parent. Although He perfomed many miracles in His earth time, He did it all for helping people, not fighting bad goverment or troops or bad people, he was the hope for the poor and the sick, nothing as great as King David or King Salomon in their days. And at the end for the anti climax, He was just human that cruxified at the cross of Golgota.

God did not came as what people expected Him to be. But God came to earth as what we need Him to be, and thats God deepest desire.  To bring us back originally as He planned before, to be in Heaven with Him.

Not any of us can entering Heaven with our goodness or godliness, because heaven is holy and clean from sin, but as you read the scriptures, no one is holy and clean from sin. Our flesh itself sin contaminated, from generation to generations we passed and passes our fathers and great grand fathers sin. We are a broken glass, cannot be fixed even we stick it. In heaven, no broken glass accepted, not even a scratch. Heaven is perfect.

Romans 3:23 For all have done wrong and are far from the glory of God;

Romans 6:23  For the reward of sin is death; but what God freely gives is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.

But the main difference is the resurrection day! Which is proof that Jesus is God in human form. And the teaching He gaves us was clearly explain the life of heaven, where He came from and return too. He revealing God to us in very close and intimate ways, face to face! And only by faith to Jesus Christ then someone can have their sin redeemed. Only by acknowledge Christ in your life, then you will be saved, that the price!

Romans 10:9-10 
Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation: For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.

Thats the opening to explain you the background. Now I would like to get focus on the resurrection day of Christ.

It was a third day Christ was died and buried. He was buried as Jews tradition, it is in a stone cave. Usually the cave door are leave it open or else close with something easy to open. Jews buried only with cloth and no jewelries or any precious things like egypt, so none will stole from the cave. And also, it is forbidden to Jews to touch dead body,  they will be unholy for a day because of that and cannot join any religion ceremony.  Thats why these people who came to Jesus tomb were came after Sabbath.

But the problem with the tomb is the doorway has closed with big heavy stone. Why? Because the Jews leaders told Pilate about what Jesus said before, that the prophecy of Messiah will be resurrected on third days. They afraid that the disciples of Christ will stole the body and says He is risen. So the local Roman goverment sealed the cave or tomb with big stone and goverment stamp.

But when they arrived, the tomb has opened, the big stone has rolled over, and there is a man with white robe showing that Jesus is not there anymore, more surprisingly,  he said that Jesus has risen.

To be noted, I find it something quite interesting from the words of that man with white robe. He mentions name. One for sure is Jesus. But the other one is ... Peter!  The most active and - if I may say - short minded person. I wonder why?

Let's recall a little bit about Peter. He seems the head of the class of Jesus twelve disciples. The right hand of Jesus. Peter seems always there with Jesus every time and every where. I also recall the other two, John and James at Getshemane and the mountain when they met phrophet Moses and phrophet Elijah.

Peter is the only person who dare to step out of the boat under storm to walk on the water with Jesus.

Peter is the one who told everyone that Jesus is the messiah.

But this high rank student, was the one who deny Jesus three times before sun rise because of afraid being captured together with Jesus. He was actually brave enough to watch Jesus closely to the court yard of Jews high priest in the time.

But Jesus has warned him about it, using the cry of the cock, Jesus already foreseeing Peter would deny Him. And then after the cry of the cock, Peter realised that he denied his loving master, he run away with broken tears.

And then I realised.  What this message mean saying Peter name is completely to address the healing and hope to broken Peter. The "rock" that is now in peaces, cannot lifted his face amongs his fellow disciples. Actually all of them the same, they all afraid and run, but Peter....oh our Peter, the one walking on the water, how come?

I believe many of us like Peter, a broken and a failed one. How many times we promised to live in godlines, to do the words of God, to praise Him in our life, but we fails. We may also fails in many other aspects in life. We fails in relationship, we fails in trust, we fails in holiness. We sin and fail.

The ressurection news addresed specifically to the broken and failed like Peter. The scripture we read today might not mentioned my name, but I know, he named me too. This for us the believers who sometimes fail and broken from many things. Yes, God is addressed His ressurection for you who fails!

I wouldn't doubt if Judas the traitor wasn't killed himself, then it will not only Peter name mentioned, it will also Judas. But for sure, any of us should be like Peter who's crying to confess of his sin and regreting how failed he is. Without repent, there is no way God will forgive. Why? Because God want us to value how bad and dangerous sin is, it took the Son of God to die on the cross for redeem (pay) it.

When people wants God come to punish the bad/criminal guys, instead, the fact is God came to saves the broken and fails people like you and I. God still will punish sinners, but only for them who wont grateful for His calling of salvation thru faith in Jesus Christ.

He has done all the conditional of sin penalty, and paid all to save everyone of us. So His calling should be a huge joy for a person like you and I, a chance to be saved.

But in the other hand, when we reject His calling, it is the worst response that disrespectful of God own sacrifice.

Yes He is calling each of us! He knows our life, He want to heal us, He want to love us back, He wants to grasp our hand and make us stand on our feet again, He wants to build us from just a fail student becomes the great apostles!

Come to Him, come to Jesus Christ, confess your sin, talk to Him your failures, and ask Him to forgives you, and you will be saved. Just simple pray with your own words to express your need of Him, then you can see how He will save you.

For He want us in heaven with Him someday. Amen. -md

Kamis Putih saya

Hari ini saya tidak bisa ke gereja untuk ibadah kamis putih karena sakit, semoga besok saya bisa ke gereja. Jumat Agung dan Paskah selalu menjadi hari peringatan terbesar dalam kehidupan rohani saya, bahkan lebih penting daripada natal. Karena saya sudah menyaksikan Dia dicambuk dan disalibkan demi dosa-dosa saya. Ada pengalaman pribadi saya yang mengingatkan saya akan suara-Nya berbicara kepada saya, bahwa Dia mengasihi dan menebus saya dari dosa-dosa saya.

Allah menjadi manusia untuk menebus dosa-dosa seluruh manusia, mati dan bangkit pada hari ke-3 menunjukkan Sang Pencipta telah mengunjungi ciptaan-Nya.

Allah yang adil telah memberi hukuman atas dosa juga memberi jalan untuk pengampunan dosa. Allah yang tidak hanya menghukum  tetapi juga mengetahui bagaimana menjadi manusia seutuhnya. Allah yang sempurna cinta kasih-Nya dan yang menyempurnakan anak-anak-Nya yang percaya pada karya penyelamatan-Nya lewat Kristus Yesus yang disalibkan itu.

1 Petrus 2:24  Ia sendiri telah memikul dosa kita di dalam tubuh-Nya di kayu salib, supaya kita, yang telah mati terhadap dosa, hidup untuk kebenaran. Oleh bilur-bilur-Nya kamu telah sembuh.

Selamat Kamis Putih teman, jika kita ada saat itu, malam ini bukanlah malam yang indah tetapi mencekam, pagi esok bukan pagi yang cerah tapi kelam, dan sore hari esok adalah saat dimana alam menangis dan bumi gemetar atas apa yang kita sebagai ciptaan telah perbuat kepada Sang Pencipta kita. Dan semua kekejaman itu melalui racun iblis atas nama politik dan agamawi. Tapi dari situlah kebenaran muncul, mengalahkan maut.

Apakah mungkin seorang manusia biasa yang hanya mencapai umur 33 1/2 tahun di bumi dari kota terpencil di Nazareth, keluarga miskin pekerjaan tukang kayu dengan pengikut hanya 12 orang penakut dimana 1 adalah penghianat, namun dapat memberi dampak ribuan tahun kemudian? Untuk seluruh generasi dan jutaan manusia?

Bahkan sebelum Dia lahir seluruh jalan yang harus ditempuh-Nya selama 33 1/2 tahun itu telah tertulis dan terinci dalam surat-surat para nabi dalam rentang ribuan tahun juga. Dimana nabi-nabi itu adalah nabi-nabi besar yang dikenal hampir di seluruh bangsa di dunia.

1 Korintus 15:3-4  Sebab yang sangat penting telah kusampaikan kepadamu, yaitu apa yang telah kuterima sendiri, ialah bahwa Kristus telah mati karena dosa-dosa kita, sesuai dengan Kitab Suci, bahwa Ia telah dikuburkan, dan bahwa Ia telah dibangkitkan, pada hari yang ketiga, sesuai dengan Kitab Suci;

Tuhan Yesus Kristus sungguh Allah yang menjadi manusia. Dia tidak datang hanya untuk menjadi bagian dari orang Kristen. Bahkan saat Dia di dunia, tak pernah Dia membentuk kaum Kristiani.

Dia tidak menjadi ikonik orang Yahudi, dimana justru pemuka Yahudi lah yang menuduh Dia makar terhadap kerajaan Romawi dan meminta Pontius Pilatus menyalib mati Yesus Kristus.

Dia bukan datang untuk sekelompok orang. Allah menjadi manusia itu datang untuk SEMUA manusia. Dia mati dan bangkit untuk semua manusia. Artinya, tak ada jalan lain untuk diselamatkan selain melalui Allah yang sejati dalam inkarnasi Yesus Kristus.

Kisah Para Rasul 4:12  Dan keselamatan tidak ada di dalam siapa pun juga selain di dalam Dia, sebab di bawah kolong langit ini tidak ada nama lain yang diberikan kepada manusia yang olehnya kita dapat diselamatkan."

Satu hal yang pasti, Allah yang sejati ini sejak dulu, sekarang dan selamanya tetap sama. Kekuatan, kuasa, keajaiban, kebenaran, kesucian, kasih dan cinta-Nya tidak berubah. Dia kudus dan selalu setia. Apa yang ada di dalam Allah adalah juga apa yang ada di dalam Yesus Kristus. Karena sesungguhnya mereka itu satu adanya. Allah adalah Roh, dan Roh Allah telah memakai rahim perawan Maria untuk menjadi manusia Yesus Kristus.

Apakah ini bisa dipercaya? Ya! Selain banyak bangsa lain memiliki kepercayaan yang sama tentang kisah perawan Maria. Tetapi memang adalah mudah bagi Allah menjadi manusia.

Tetapi apakah ini bukan penipuan, seorang yang mengaku Allah? Ya jika dia mati dan tidak bangkit lalu naik ke Sorga.

Namun Yesus Kristus satu-satunya manusia tanpa cacat cela dosa, perbuatan-perbuatan-Nya selama hidup di dunia adalah keajaiban yang hanya mungkin dilakukan Allah. Seperti menyembuhkan orang buta dari lahir, orang kusta kembali pulih dengan tubuh yang baru, orang lumpuh seketika berjalan, bahkan orang mati lewat 4 hari pun dibangkitkan oleh-Nya yaitu bernama Lazarus yang terkenal itu.

Dan di atas segalanya, Yesus Kristus mati dan bangkit, lalu naik ke sorga. Seluruh murid-murid menjadi saksi mata atas semua itu.  Mereka kemudian disebut rasul-rasul. Mereka yang tadinya penakut sekarang berbalik menjadi militan, bahkan rela mati demi berita besar ini. Seperti Yakobus dipenggal, Petrus disalib terbalik dan lain sebagainya. Dan, semua orang yang percaya sejati, disepanjang sejarah dunia, juga tidak akan menyangkal kebenaran ini sampai akhir hayatnya. Ini berita benar dan pantas diperjuangkan. Berita baik dan sukacita, bahwa ada jalan menuju sorga.

Roma 10:9-10  Sebab jika kamu mengaku dengan mulutmu, bahwa Yesus adalah Tuhan, dan percaya dalam hatimu, bahwa Allah telah membangkitkan Dia dari antara orang mati, maka kamu akan diselamatkan.
Karena dengan hati orang percaya dan dibenarkan, dan dengan mulut orang mengaku dan diselamatkan.

Jadi apakah kamis putih saya ini? Terbaring di kamar ini sendirian dalam sakit. Saya mohon maaf, saya kurang menghormati anda, saya juga tak suka mengidolakan pendeta atau tokoh agama, sayapun kurang tertarik mengelu-elukan gereja ini dan itu, apalagi soal politik dan pemimpin pemerintahan, saya tidak terlalu terpikat sebaik apapun itu.

Yang saya pikirkan adalah, kamis putih ini. Ada berita sangat baik buat semua orang, semua teman-teman saya, buat pembaca. Kabar sukacita adalah, kita semua bisa beroleh penyucian sempurna dari dosa-dosa kita, kita semua bisa masuk sorga, tak perlu kuatir ditimbang amal ibadah kita tak cukup berat dibanding dosa kita (karena pasti dosa seringan apapun tak akan diterima di sorga yang suci tanpa noda).

Kabar baik itu adalah, Tuhan Yesus mengasihi kita. Dia siap menebus dan memulihkan hidup kita. Dia mau kita mencari kebenaran tentang Dia. Dia mau kita percayakan hidup kita pada-Nya. Dia sudah buktikan cinta kasih-Nya dan Dia mau menumpahkan semua anugerah kepada kita sebagaimana Dia telah menumpahkan seluruh darah-Nya di tanah bukit Golgota dimana Dia disalibkan.

Allah berjanji barang siapa mencari Allah sejati dengan sungguh hati pasti menemukan. Permasalahannya tidak banyak orang sungguh peduli dan bertekad untuk mencari kebenaran sejati. Tapi carilah, pasti akan menemukan Allah.

Matius 5:6  Berbahagialah orang yang lapar dan haus akan kebenaran, karena mereka akan dipuaskan.

Atau terlebih lagi, seperti yang saya alami, justru Allah yang menemukan saya. Yah inilah ibadah kamis putih saya. Amin. -md

Sudah Selesai (It is finished)

Sudah Selesai.

Yohanes 19:28-30.

Sesudah itu, karena Yesus tahu, bahwa segala sesuatu telah selesai, berkatalah Ia – supaya genaplah yang ada tertulis dalam Kitab Suci - : “Aku haus!”

Di situ ada suatu bekas penuh anggur asam. Maka mereka mencucukkan bunga karang, yang telah dicelupkan dalam anggur asam, pada sebatang hisop lalu mengunjukkannya ke mulut Yesus.

Sesudah Yesus meminum anggur asam it, berkatalah Ia: “Sudah selesai.” Lalu Ia menundukkan kepala-Nya dan menyerahkan nyawa-Nya.

Hari ini (Maret 2016) saat pengumuman di gereja, diumumkan berita duka, yaitu seorang pria tua yang meninggal dunia, tertanggal seminggu yang lalu. Nama dan foto beliau terpampang di layar pengumuman.

Mungkin bagi pembaca hal ini suatu hal yang biasa saja, tetapi tidak bagi sebagian besar jemaat gereja saat itu, termasuk saya. Mengapa? Karena sesuatu yang dilakukan oleh pria tua ini tepat saat sebelum kematiannya.

Beliau adalah seorang pensiunan majelis di gereja itu, pada hari minggu itu, beliau sangat berbahagia mengantar cucu-cucunya dibaptiskan. Gereja saat itu penuh dengan orang dan karena acara baptisan tersebut sehingga banyak pengunjung yang datang. Agak unik bahwa hari itu ada beberapa grup paduan suara yang berkunjung dan menyumbang lagu, sehingga ibadah berlangsung agak lama.

Dan menariknya, tepat sebelum ibadah berakhir (pemberian berkat), pria tua ini pun turut meramaikan urutan acara. Beliau sudah mendaftarkan untuk memberi lagu pujian. Melangkah ke depan diikuti lirikan mata jemaat yang mulai jenuh karena lama duduk. Pria ini membuka tas berisi gitar Keroncong dan mulai bersiap-siap. Beliau bersaksi betapa bahagia dia mengantar cucu-cucunya untuk dibaptiskan. Kemudian menyanyikan 3 buah lagu dimana 2 lagu terakhir adalah ciptaan sendiri. Puji-pujian itu berkata, sampai tua pun, dia tetap mengikut Yesus.

Selesai nyanyi, beliau berjalan kembali ke bangkunya, jemaat mengikutinya dengan lirikan mata, musiknya biasa saja dan suaranya tidak sangat bagus, beberapa orang di bangku belakangku bergumam menggerutu karena lamanya ibadah hari itu dan banyaknya orang menyanyi. Dan tepat saat jemaat diminta berdiri untuk menerima berkat dari pendeta, bapak tua itu terjatuh, diangkat oleh para petugas dan pelayan gereja ke ruang lain, dan itulah kisah dan tanggal terakhir dalam hidupnya. Sudah selesai!

Berbeda dengan Tuhan Yesus, saat disalibkan Dia berseru: “Sudah selesai” dan kemudian menyerahkan nyawa-Nya. Tuhan Yesus tidak selesai saat itu, pada hari ketiga Dia bangkit dan membuktikan bahwa Diri-Nya adalah Allah yang mengunjungi manusia dan maut tidak berkuasa atas-Nya. Lalu apa maksud perkataan Yesus “Sudah selesai” itu?

Pernahkah anda mengunjungi penjara? Saat anda bertemu dengan orang-orang tahanan maka anda bisa melihat bagaimana mereka memandang dirinya sendiri. Mereka adalah orang-orang yang memiliki kejelasan nasib. Mengapa? Karena mereka tahu berapa lama mereka harus mendekam dalam penjara. Apalagi mereka yang diputus hukuman mati, mereka sudah punya kepastian mati.

Tuhan Yesus juga seorang dengan kepastian yang jelas. Sejak lahir Dia sudah mengemban misi penyelamatan umat manusia. Setiap waktu dan hari Tuhan Yesus sedang menatap hari Dia akan disalibkan. Berita penyiksaan dan penyaliban bukan hal baru bagi-Nya, semua telah tertulis dengan jelas pada kitab suci orang Israel. Semua merupakan nubuatan yang harus digenapi, skenario penebusan dosa yang tidak dapat diubah selain dijalani. Dan Yesus Kristus hidup untuk menjalaninya sampai tuntas.

Berbeda dengan para tahanan di penjara, Tuhan Yesus punya pilihan untuk tidak melanjutkannya, Dia berhak untuk itu karena Dia bukanlah yang berdosa, Dia bukanlah yang bertanggung jawab. Yesus bahkan tidak dilahirkan dari keturunan Adam dan Hawa. Roh Allah memakai rahim perawan Maria untuk menjelma sebagai manusia. Yesus hanya memiliki kromosom ibu dan tidak memiliki kromosom ayah. Ini keajaiban natal.

Namun satu keajaiban natal tidak akan berarti tanpa keajaiban Paskah. Dimana Yesus harus menderita mati disalibkan lalu bangkit dalam kemenangan, tentu inilah misi yang harus diselesaikan, bukan lahir ke dunia, tetapi mati disalibkan, itulah misi-Nya.

Suatu malam di taman Getsemani sebelum Yesus ditangkap dan diserahkan kepada para pembenci-Nya, Yesus berdoa di taman itu. Doa-Nya itu merupakan kesempatan terakhir bagi-Nya untuk berbalik dan melangkah pergi, menjauhi salib. Dalam doa-Nya Yesus berkata:

“Ya Bapa-Ku, jikalau cawan ini tidak mungkin lalu, kecuali apabila Aku meminumnya, jadilah kehendak-Mu!” (Matius 26:42).

Tiga kali Yesus mengucapkan doa yang sama, menunjukkan pergumulan yang berat dalam batin-Nya sendiri. Sebenarnya ini seperti sedang berbicara dengan diri-Nya sendiri karena Dia adalah Allah sendiri yang menjadi manusia.

Kadang kitapun bergumul dan bicara pada diri kita sendiri bukan? Misalnya saat diet kita berhadapan dengan makanan dan berbicara dalam batin, makan atau tidak, makan atau tidak.

Yesus sedang bergumul dalam batin yang berbeda, ini sebuah pilihan yang sangat berat. Dia tahu setelah memutuskan ini, pilihannya adalah cawan yaitu meneruskan jalan salib, atau pergi meninggalkan semua ini. Walaupun Yesus Kristus adalah Allah yang sejati, hasil inkarnasi Roh Allah menjadi manusia, namun Dia telah memiliki seluruh aspek psikis dan fisik manusia saat memiliki tubuh manusia, Dia pun 100% manusia yang bisa merasa lapar, haus, sakit, senang dan stres. Saat berdoa di taman Getsemani, Yesus dalam posisi stres atau tekanan batin luar biasa, sehingga pembuluh darah dibalik kulitnya pecah dan darah keluar dari pori-pori kulit bagaikan keringat darah. Secara kedokteran hal ini lazim ditemui di penjara-penjara pada orang-orang yang diperhadapkan pada hukuman mati.

Pada akhirnya Yesus memilih jalan salib, dan kita tahu kemudian apa saja yang dialami-Nya sepanjang menuju titik terakhir dari misi penyelamatan ini. Apakah yang dipikirkan Yesus saat di taman Getsemani sehingga Dia memilih ini?

Saya dapat membayangkan, bahwa dalam doanya yang “1 jam saja” sebanyak 3 kali itu, Yesus bergumul memilih kembali ke Surga sendirian atau menjalani salib agar wajah-wajah seperti anda dan saya yang melintas dalam doa-Nya malam itu juga bisa kembali ke surga. Tampaknya tidak ada jalan lain bagi manusia untuk ditebus dosanya. Manusia berdosa harus menjalani maut, dan penebusan terhadap maut hanya bisa jika korban penebusan itupun manusia. Akan tetapi hanya manusia tak bercacat cela saja yang layak menjadi tumbal pembayar dosa tersebut. Dan tak ada seorangpun di dunia ini yang layak selain Yesus. Yesus Kristus harus menyodorkan diri atau tidak ada keselamatan sama sekali. Dan terpujilah Tuhan, Dia memilih itu.

Saya membayangkan, Yesus melihat wajah saya saat Dia berdoa di Getsemani. Dia membayangkan wajah saya saat didakwa di pengadilan agama dan pengadilan Pontius Pilatus. Dia membayangkan wajah saya saat dicambuk dengan cambuk berduri besi. Dia membayangkan saya saat dimahkotai duri dan diarak memikul kayu salib yang kasar dan berat itu menuju bukit Golgota. Dan ketika paku demi paku menancap pada kaki dan tangannya, dalam jeritan-Nya Dia mengingat saya.

Saya yang berdosa ini, siapakah yang mau menolong saya? Saya yang selalu gagal hidup dalam standar kekudusan Allah, siapakah yang mau menerima saya? Bahkan jika seandainya semua dosa-dosa saya dibukakan, yakin sekali bahkan kalian manusia sesama orang berdosapun muak terhadap saya. Siapa yang mau mengambil hukuman yang seharusnya saya tanggung? Yang pasti saya tidak akan sanggup dan bahkan lebih lagi, saya akan menghujat Allah tatkala harus memikul salib untuk dosa-dosa saya sendiri (seperti para penjahat yang disalibkan di sebelah Yesus juga mengutuki hidupnya dan Tuhan).

Hanya Yesus yang mau. Dia sudah melihat saya menulis ini jauh bahkan sebelum saya dilahirkan. Dia sudah melihat saya di taman Getsemani ribuan tahun yang lalu. Dia memilih menyelesaikan penyelamatan atas diri saya untuk saya saat ini dan masa mendatang. Dia melihat saya bersama Diri-Nya di surga saat terakhir Dia tertunduk menyerahkan nyawa-Nya.

Ini kemenangan yang indah bagi-Nya. Saya yakin, sedetik setelah mengatakan “Sudah selesai”, pastilah Dia tertunduk dan tersenyum, seakan berkata: “Halo Mark, selamat datang di Surga.”.

Terima kasih Tuhan Yesus, Kau menyelesaikan semuanya untuk saya. Dan jika Kau mau menyelesaikan pengampunan untukku, maka aku yakin Kau pun akan menyelesaikan rencana-Mu dalam hidupku. Amin.

Kuberbahagia yakin teguh: Yesus abadi kepunyaanku.

John 19: 28-30.

After this, Jesus knowing that all was now completed, he said - in order to fulfill the scripture - "I am thirsty!"

Was there a vessel full of vinegar. So they put a sponge soaked in sour wine on a hyssop stick and brought it to his mouth.

After Jesus drank it with sour wine, He said: "It is finished." Then he bowed his head and gave His life.

Today (March 2016) when the announcement at the church, announced the sad news, that an old man who dies, dated a week ago. His name and photo displayed on the screen announcements.

Possible for the reader it is a matter of course, but not for the majority of the congregation in the church, including me. Why? Because of something that is done by the old man was right before his death.

He is a retired assembly in the church on the day of the week, he is very happy to escort his grandchildren baptized. The current church was full of people and for the baptism ceremony, so many visitors are coming. Rather unique that there are some groups that day choir who visit and contribute songs, so worship taking a while.

And interestingly, just before the service ended (the rewards), the old man is also helped enliven the event sequence. He has registered to post a song of praise. Moving forward gaze followed the church reaching saturation due to prolonged sitting. This man opened the bag containing Keroncong (small guitar or Ukulele) and start getting ready. He testified how happy he took his grandchildren to be baptized. Then sang three songs in which 2 the last song is his own creation. Song said, until his old days, he always follow Jesus.

Done singing, he walked back to his seat, the congregation followed him with a glance of the eye, the music is mediocre and his voice is not very good, some people on the bench behind me muttered grumbling because the length of the day service and the number of people singing. And just as the congregation was asked to stand to receive a blessing from the Preacher, the old man fell, carried by the officers and servants of the church to another room, and that is the end story and the latest date in his life. It is finished!

In contrast to the Lord Jesus, crucified when he shouted: "It is finished" and then gave His life. The Lord Jesus was not finish at that time, on the third day He rose and prove that it is God Himself who visited the man and Death has no power over Him. Then what is the purpose of Jesus' words "It is finished" it?

Have you ever visited the prison? When you meet with those prisoners then you can see how they perceive themselves. They are the ones who have the fate of clarity. Why? Because they know how long they have languished in prison. Moreover, those who was sentenced to death, they've got a dead certainty.

Jesus was also a man of clear certainty. Since birth he had a mission to rescue mankind. Every time and day the Lord Jesus was staring at day He would be crucified. News of torture and crucifixion is not new for him, all had been written clearly on the sacred scriptures of Israel. All the prophecies to be fulfilled, the scenario of redemption can not be changed other than by doing it. And Jesus Christ lives to get through to completion.

Unlike the prisoners in jail, Jesus had choices not to continue, he has all rights because he is not a sinner, He is not responsible for it. Jesus was not even born descendants of Adam and Eve. The Spirit of God put on the Virgin Mary's womb to incarnate as a human being. He had only maternal chromosomes and no father chromosome. It's the miracle of Christmas.

But the miracle of Christmas would be meaningless without the miracle of Easter. Where Christ suffered and died on the cross and rose in victory, of course this is a mission that must be completed, it was not to born into the world, but to died on the cross, that's his mission.

One night in the garden of Gethsemane before Jesus was arrested and handed over to the haters, Jesus prayed in the garden. His prayer was a last chance for him to turn around and walk away, away from the cross. In his prayer Jesus said:

"My Father, if this cup may not past unless I drink it, thy will be done" (Matthew 26:42).

Three times Jesus prayed the same, indicating that weight struggles in his own mind. Actually, it's like talking to Himself because He is God who became man.

Sometimes we are struggling and talking to ourselves is not it? For example, when we are dealing with a food diet and talking inside, eating or not, eating or not.

Jesus is wrestling in a different mind, this is a choice that is very hard. He knew after this decision, the choice is a cup that is forward way to the cross, or to leave all this. Although Jesus Christ is true God, for the Spirit of God into human incarnation, but he has to have all aspects of the physical and psychological humans when a human body, he was 100% human being can feel hunger, thirst, pain, happy and stress. While praying in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus in stress condition or extraordinary inner pressure, so that the blood vessels behind his skin broke and blood out of the skin pores like sweat blood. In medical, it is prevalent in prisons to people who faced the death penalty.

In the end Jesus chose the way of the cross, and we knew then what happened him along towards the last point of this rescue mission. What the thoughts of Jesus when in the garden of Gethsemane that He chose this?

I can imagine that in his prayer that "1 hour" for 3 times, Jesus wrestled chose to return to Heaven alone or undergo cross that faces like you and me, that came to his prayer that night could also go back to heaven. It seems there is no other way for mankind to be redeemed their sins. Sinful man must undergo death, and the redemption of the death could only be if a sacrifice is also by humans. But only humans that is blameless ones are eligible to be the ransom of sin. And no one in this world worthy than Jesus. Jesus Christ need to push yourself or no safety at all. And praise the Lord, He chose it.

I imagine Jesus saw my face when He prayed in Gethsemane. He imagined my face when charged in a religious court and the court of Pontius Pilate. He imagined my face when whipped with barbed whips of iron. He imagined me when crowned with thorns and paraded carry the cross rough and heavy towards Golgotha. And when the nail-by-nail embedded in his feet and hands, in his screams he remembers me.

I am sinful, who will help me? I always fail to live in God's standard of holiness, who will accept me? Even supposing all my sins be opened, quite sure even you humans fellow sinners disgusted with me. Who wants to take the punishment that should have been my responsibility? To be sure I will not be able to and even more, I would blaspheme God when I had to carry the cross for the sins of my own (like the criminals who were crucified beside Jesus also curse her life and God).

Only Jesus was willing to. He had seen me writing this far even before I was born. He had seen me in the garden of Gethsemane thousands of years ago. He chose completing the rescue on me for me right now and future. He saw me with Himself in heaven the last moment he bowed down His life.

It's a beautiful victory for Him. I am sure, a moment after saying "It is finished", surely He bowed and smiled, as if to say: "Hello Mark, welcome to Heaven.".

Thank you, Lord Jesus, you finish it all for me. And if you want to finish forgiveness for me, then I'm sure you will finish your plan in my life. Amen.
